I have over 30 years experience in the travel industry and the content I produce in my blog includes travel tips and advice as well as information on travel destinations. Please feel free to contact me for quotes.

There’s more to planning a holiday than simply walking into a travel agency and buying a ticket.  A number of important things need to be taken into consideration.

  • Do you need a visa?
  • When’s the best time to travel to your destination?
  • Should you take out travel insurance?
  • Should you pre-book accommodation, car hire, rail passes and tours?
  • What type of ticket should you purchase to provide best value for money?
  • Are there any restrictions?
  • What are the penalties for cancelling or amending?

Finding a good travel agent is an important step in planning a relatively trouble-free holiday. The travel industry is a complex business and travel agents usually undertake comprehensive training courses to attain their skills.  They have the expertise to put your trip together and can save you hundreds of dollars. They can discuss the pros and cons and they’ll think of things you won’t. They will take the time to explore your options and provide advice.

The internet is making it more and more easy to “do it yourself”, but be very careful as you could end up making costly mistakes.  I’ve seen it happen time and time again.  Things can go wrong and if they do, by dealing with a travel agent, they’ll be able to assist.  A good agent will be able to offer an after hours service should you require assistance outside of their office hours.

In Australia, when dealing with a travel agency, it’s safer to deal with an agency which is ATAS accredited.  They follow guidelines and operate a trusted, professional and ethical business.  ATAS accredited agents are backed by AFTA (Australian Federation of Travel Agents) and they’re required to annually meet the compliance benchmarks to uphold their accreditation.

If you can’t find the answer in my blogs, please contact me any time via my contact page. I’m also available to discuss your next trip whether it be for business or pleasure, no matter how well travelled you are!

If you live outside Australia and are planning a trip to our beautiful land down under, I’m available to provide advice and assist with itinerary planning.
