THE AUSTRALIAN LANGUAGE – YES, WE HAVE OUR OWN!

When you visit Australia, you’ll need to understand some of the Aussie lingo (that’s language in Australian).  It’s a mess of words that usually only make sense to people who grew up in Australia even if they don’t use it. It’s more often than not used by bogans (see meaning below). Not to say that you won’t hear the occassional word or phrase from non-bogans. Good luck trying to interpret it yourself!

Aussies also love to shorten words and add “ey”, “ee”, “ie”, “y” or “o” to the end of words. Here are a few words and phrases to help you along.
